"Mean Absolute Ratio" Formula
The "Mean Absolute Ratio" is computed as follows:
where i is the poll ranking of a team, and
jC(teami) is Colley Matrix ranking
for that team. Notice the absolute values of the logs within the
sum, which cause positive additions in the sum, whether the ratio is
greater than or less than one. This quantity is therefore the typical
ratio error (up or down) of a given team from one ranking to another.
A value of 1.25 would indicate a typical diasgreement of 25%: an
difference of typically 1 at a ranking of 4, and a difference of 5 at
a ranking of 20.
